CAMBRIDGE, MA -
On September 10, 2024, Boston Biotech Investor Day convened more than 200 investors, founders, and stakeholders in Greater Boston’s biotech ecosystem at The Engine Accelerator.
In a first-of-it-kind partnership among these three premier life sciences incubators, BioLabs, LabCentral, and The Engine Accelerator collaborated to present the inaugural Boston Biotech Investor Day. Investor day was a curated daylong event featuring groundbreaking biotech startup pitches, insightful expert panels, and ample opportunities for investors and founders to connect.
Skip Kelly of JP Morgan kicked off the morning program with an insider’s perspective on the state of the market and the changing tides of biotech fundraising. Rachel Sha, CEO of Vaxess Technologies, delivered a keynote address with insights on her early personal journey at Genzyme and Sanofi and what it takes to succeed in the biotech space in a variety of roles as both a founder and investor.
Between morning and afternoon pitch tracks were two expert panels on the topics of non-traditional funding sources and navigating boardroom hurdles. The highlights of the day were 32 curated 7-minute pitch and Q&A sessions and 12 additional 3-minute elevator pitches by biotech founders to engaged rooms of investors and partners. Presenting startups ranged from game-changing work on wound healing, non-invasive cancer detection, cell engineering and analytics, and origami nanoparticles to baby nutrition.
Boston Biotech Investor Day would not have been possible without the generous support of the event’s sponsors: Founding: Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, Goodwin, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Mispro, along with Browne Consulting, CBRE, MilliporeSigma, Elemental Machines, and LICORbio.
