Burlington, VT – October 16, 2025
It’s official! BioLabs has launched its first rural site in partnership with The University of Vermont (UVM). The ribbon cutting ceremony on September 23rd heralds a new chapter for BioLabs as we deploy the essential space, infrastructure, and network needed to build a regional bioscience ecosystem in a region rich with innovators.
The collaboration with UVM has been remarkable, resulting in a nearly 7,000 square foot facility that can support 20+ startups. The entire project moved rapidly, from inception to welcoming our first residents in just a few months.
The facility boasts state-of-the-art resources designed to support the next generation of ventures across several vital sectors, including med-tech, agriculture, health, biomanufacturing, and green tech.
Beyond the bench, the BioLabs Innovation Center at the University of Vermont provides crucial support:
Directed educational programming
Connections to industry professionals
Capital connections
Expert onsite operations and business support
This comprehensive approach is designed to immediately support the burgeoning ecosystem.
We were humbled by the strong community turnout for the ribbon cutting and honored by the regional media coverage. Our UVM partners showed up in force with uplifting messages from Kirk Dombrowski, VP for Research and Economic Development, UVM President Marlene Tromp, and Dean Richard Page from the College of Medicine.
The enthusiasm from the community was palpable, with an array of local investors, startup incubators, and innovators attending to support and get a first look at the facility. One of our early residents, John Milligan from The Honey Pot Co, gave a glimpse into the spirit of the space when he said:
“We can cross-pollinate and just share ideas. And as more people come in, we’ll be talking to more brands and collaborating, so yeah -- very exciting.”
We wholeheartedly agree. We could not be more excited to connect and elevate innovators to build the Vermont bioscience economy.
